Chimney & stove cleaning in Gozo
Gozo has more working fireplaces than anywhere else on the islands: farmhouses with traditional hearths, converted houses of character and holiday homes with wood burners. Many are only used for part of the year, which makes a check before the season even more important.
Chimney and stove cleaning across Gozo
Fireplaces that sit unused for months can collect nests, debris and damp, so a sweep before the first fire of the season is strongly recommended.
Gozo visits are grouped by area to keep scheduling efficient. Reserve your preferred month early, because demand peaks from October to January.
Traditional Gozitan farmhouses often have wide, old chimneys that were built for open fires, not modern stoves. When a stove is fitted into one, it should be installed and lined properly, and swept every season.
Holiday homes and farmhouses used only now and then are the most likely to have nests, fallen mortar or damp in the flue when the first fire of the winter is lit.

How often should a chimney or stove be swept?
At least once a year for most wood-burning fires and stoves, ideally before the cold season. If you burn wood most evenings through winter, a second sweep mid-season is a good idea. Pellet stoves also need regular cleaning in between, as set out in the manufacturer’s manual.
